Arena lighting, both indoor and outdoor, can be challenging. Proper light levels are very important for the safety of the horse and rider. Riders jumping will require higher light levels toward the inner part of the ring, while dressage riders will require even lighting across the entire ring, paying special attention to the outer corners of the arena. Choosing the proper fixtures is also important. We can guide the client in making the proper selection.
Proper lighting is important in a barn. The light fixtures installed in barns must be vapor tight and dust resistant. Bott Electric offers different mounting methods by using custom mounting brackets which are fabricated at our location.
If you have been visiting other barns, you would agree wash and grooming stalls must have the best lighting available. This is where we can help. Proper mounting and choosing the correct lighting fixture can make the difference. Wash stall heaters are a nice added bonus in the winter. Bott Electric offers several choices of heaters that meet the National Electrical Code.
Stall fans are one of the #1 items being installed improperly in barns. It is important to install a fan with a sealed motor to prevent dust from entering the fan motor and causing a fire. Bott Electric installs sealed motor fans with three speeds mounted with our own custom designed brackets keeping the fans away from the horse to prevent injury.
This photo illustrates both the wrong fan for a horse setting and the improper installation of a box fan installed on the stall grills. If you look closely at the photo, you will see an extension cord powering the fan. This installation is dangerous; electrocution can occur if the horse chews the cord. In addition, the fan is an open motor fan, which is a fire hazard. Don't make this mistake in your barn!
